Day 172

It was a great day that ran much longer than I expected.  I'm already dozing off so I'm going to make this post quick then get to bed for some much needed rest.  I'll fill in the gaps tomorrow.

The ferry that would eventually take Rick and Hank back across the bay. Mid crossing in stil mirror smooth water
I got a very early start and paddled down the beach a couple miles to catch up with Rick and Hank who drove down from the Baltimore area to do the crossing of the Delaware Bay with me.  The weather was good as you could imagine and we made it nearly all the way across the bay on almost mirror smooth water.  We arrived on the New Jersey side by about 10:00 then paddled another five miles up the East shore and came in the Cape May inlet.  From there Rick and Hank paddled south down a canal to catch a ferry back across the bay.  Meanwhile I turned and paddled north in search of high ground on which to camp and to put a few more miles in.  The least I can say is that the search for high camp-able land was a bit of a challenge but came out good in the end.

Hey Jake,
While you're on vacation, howabout shooting some more video for your cubicle constrained compatriots?
I believe the twister in FL was the last one.

Yeah I second Neil's video request. More great adventure videos. Make sure they are kid rated though because my kids want to see more of their uncle Jake!

Looks like you will make it to New York for fleet week.

Are you going to glide into New York Harbor along with all the battle ships and aircraft carriers? That would make a great action video for Neil and Becky. The kids would get a real kick out of seeing all the ships along with Uncle Jake too!

Sounds like a great idea - if they will allow you close enough and you won't get mowed down, go for it! That would make for some great video action. Safe and fun time in N.Y.

Hi, Jake
You sure are making good time. I think you should join the parade, too. Can't believe that some National TV Network hasn't caught up to you yet. Sure would be nice. Saw Pa today. He looks great. Take care and stay safe.

Jake it was great paddling with you across the Delaware Bay. Another state down and you are now well on the downhill side of the trip. Keep up your spirits.

Should have some video of you up on YouTube soon.
