Jake still has no working SPOT, but since he just paddled back into cell range he thought he’d check-in.Jake camped near the Canal St (Hwy 94) bridge last night, and was awoken by a deluge of rain around 3 am.He’s currently just south of the Alligator River Bridge (Hwy 64) and plans to paddle a few more miles north today before crossing the Albemarle Sound tomorrow. He says it’s a tad breezy and the weather forecast for today was way off, therefore he’s been hugging the eastern bank and dodging stumps.
The SPOT folks indicate on their Facebook page that they've worked with Jake to resolve his problems. I'd sure like to know why his (3rd?) SPOT is not working.

Well whattaya know, a SPOT message! Should we start a pool to see who can guess when it'll die next? I say Saturday morning, when there's no tech support available...

Neil - that would've been my guess. I wonder what the SPOT people will have to say about this new unit cutting out like it did?
Jake - I hope this SPOT holds up for a couple of days or at least long enough for you to connect with friends and hopefully get some answers from the SPOT people.
Love you and paddle safe.

Jake has another SPOT message this morning. It looks like he is getting an early start across the Albemarle Sound.
